FAQs

Why do you charge per page for conversion rather than a flat fee?

We think this is a fairer way to charge authors as it reflects the amount of work we have to do. If we charged a flat fee authors of short books would be subsidising those who submit longer books.

Can I submit my manuscript as a pdf file?

No. pdf files are just about the worst possible format to convert to an eBook and there is no guarantee that your work would convert precisely.

How long will it take to convert my book?

We will tell you how long it will be before your book is converted before you commit to using our service. Typically, it will be a week from when we receive your complete manuscript and then a matter of days before the finished book appears online for sale. We will email you to keep you informed of progress.

Do I have to pay you an annual maintenance fee?

No. Once you have paid your one-off fee that's it. We'll make sure the online retailers have what they need to keep selling your book.

I make revisions and create new editions of my book - will I have to pay the conversion fee every time?

We want to be as flexible as possible to work with authors, and consider each case individually. If the revision is fairly minor and you can identify where the changes are it should be inexpensive to update. If you are producing a complete new edition it will require full conversion and a new ISBN number. Contact us to discuss individual circumstances.

What do I need to provide to iBook Publishing?

Once you have decided to work with us we will need:

  • Your manuscript as a Word, Open Office, Neo Office or InDesign file
  • A synopsis
  • Any biographical notes you might want to include
  • Cover artwork
  • A completed questionnaire about genre, target audience etc

I've converted my book to epub and mobi formats myself but the idea of dealing with online retailers is a bit daunting. Can I use iBook Publishing for distribution, monitoring and administration?

Yes. If your file will pass validation checks and you have an ISBN number please contact us to discuss.

How will I be paid?

By Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) direct to your bank or to your PayPal account - it's up to you, but we'll agree it before we start work.

How often will I be paid?

Quarterly, at the end of February, May, August and November.

What currency will I be paid in?

GB Pounds. If you need payment in another currency please discuss this before work starts on your manuscript.
